Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has issued a strong warning to his successor, Godwin Animli Dorghadzi-Dorani, advising him to stay away.
The controversy began when Mr. Dorghadzi-Dorani, in an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, accused Mr. Hammond of disrespecting the people of Adansi Asokwa during his time in office. He alleged that the former MP failed to engage the community respectfully and was often dismissive of local concerns.
Responding on the same programme hosted by Kwesi Parker-Wilson, Mr. Hammond dismissed the current MP’s claims and said he had no personal connection with him.
“That boy, if he is having headaches, he should keep quiet and stay away from me. If you know him, tell him to stay away from me. I didn’t even mention his name during the election because I don’t know him,” Mr. Hammond stated.
The outspoken former MP further questioned Mr. Dorghadzi-Dorani’s past, alleging that he once worked as a teacher but was dismissed under unclear circumstances.
“Ask him what led to his dismissal as a teacher. Why did he run away from Fomso after the election?” he queried.
Mr. Hammond also threatened to take legal action against the current MP.
Despite the heated exchange, the former Deputy Energy Minister offered some advice to his successor, urging him to focus on development and governance rather than personal attacks.
“He should pray to God to broaden his mind and apply wisdom to rule his constituency,” Mr. Hammond said.
K.T. Hammond served as Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa for several terms before losing his seat to Godwin Animli Dorghadzi-Dorani in the last parliamentary elections.
