Former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), lawyer Obiri Boahen, has sent a word of caution to former President Mahama for comparing his administration to President Nana Addo’s government.
His statement came after former President John Mahama criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP government for the mismanagement of the economy of Ghana.
Former President Mahama, speaking to people of the Eastern Region while on his “Building Ghana Tour, expressed total disappointment in the current state of the country.
“My brothers, looking at the state of Ghana today, this isn’t the country I handed over to Nana Akufo-Addo on January 7, 2017. The country has collapsed,” he said.
It was in light of this that the legal practitioner, in an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show, said that the former President shouldn’t have said this in the first place because he left nothing good for the country.
He stressed that even though this NPP administration has been faced with a lot of challenges, in spite of all that, President Nana Addo has proven that he is capable of managing the affairs of this country.”Look, this country has been through a lot under the administration of John Mahama. We know what we went through under his governance, so what is he telling us today?” he stated.
“Who are you (John Mahama) to compare yourself to Nana Addo’s administration?” he stressed.
Meanwhile, he sent a word of caution to the former president, telling him to desist from comparing his poor administration to President Nana Addo’s government.
“Talking about governance in this country, John Mahama had nothing good for Ghana, and he should understand that he left nothing good for this country before leaving office,” he stressed.
“Next time you want to interview me on issues like this, let me know because I don’t control myself. I may end up saying something else to him that won’t be palatable,” he ended.
