A National Chairman hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe says he was suspended as a Second Vice Chairman of the party and not as a member.
Prior to the 2016 general elections, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP suspended Sammy Crabbe indefinitely alongside General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong and then-Chairman Paul Afoko, for making utterances that were injurious to the chances of then-presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.
Despite the suspension, Mr Crabbe is lacing his boot to contest for the party’s National Chairmanship position.
Speaking in an interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson, host of Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Sammy Crabbe indicated that he was suspendered as 2nd Vice-Chairman. Therefore he can contest for any position in the part as a member.
“I was suspended as National Second Vice-Chairman but not as a member. The suspension is over, I’m still a member of the party and as a party member, I’m eligible to contest for any position in the party,” he asserted on the show.
The ruling NPP has announced that its National Annual Delegates’ Conference will be held from Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17, 2022, to elect national executives for the Party. Sammy Crabbe has made all intentions clear to vie for the party’s National Chairmanship position.
