The former general secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has bemoaned over how he was suspended from his position.
Prior to the 2016 general elections, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP suspended its General Secretary. Kwabena Agyepong and then Chairman Paul Afoko and Sammy Crabbe for making utterances that were injurious to the chances of then-presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to him, there was a conspiracy against him and other two executives.
“There were plans by some of our members for us not to work. Our good work made NPP secure more parliamentary seats in 20216”. He stated in an interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson host of Oyerepa Breakfast Time.
He explained that the party never paid attention to his responses because they were hungry for power.
“I responded to my suspension but they never listened to me because they were hungry for power, afterward I decided to go and rest abroad”. Kwabena Agyepong said.
“I did not pay money for anyone but I won the election due to my good work”. He disclosed
He explained further that some party members thought that he will manipulate the system for Alan to become flagbearer.
“My problem started when I fixed a date for congress to elect the flag barrier but they taught it was too long and my aim was to pave away for Alan Kyeremateng because I was once a campaign manager for him (Alan). He narrated.
He expressed disappointment in some elders of the party who failed to defend him.
“What saddened me is that, some elders who I have worked with from Adu Boahen’s time stood up and defended me. Even the procedures they used for my suspension were wrong.” He asserted.
