Ghanaian gospel singer Florence Obinim, wife of International God’s Way Church founder Bishop Daniel Obinim, has revealed that her once-strained relationship with controversial media personality Valentina Agyeiwaa, popularly known as Afia Schwarzenegger, has blossomed into a close friendship.
Speaking in a recent interview, Florence Obinim recounted how she was taken aback when Afia Schwarzenegger joined the wave of social media personalities who criticized and insulted her during a challenging period. She, however, insisted that there had never been any personal conflict between them and believed the attacks were driven by the nature of social media, where people often target whoever is at the centre of public attention.
“They said Afia hated me and kept asking what I had done to her for her to be insulting me, but we didn’t have any issues. I even asked her, ‘Was that really you or not?’ I realized it’s all social media. When your issues come, everyone talks about you and insults you, and when they’re tired, they leave it,” she said.
The gospel musician admitted that the comments hurt her at the time but said she came to understand that Afia Schwarzenegger is known for speaking impulsively and does not always harbour personal resentment toward the people she criticizes.
Reflecting on the only time she had seen the socialite in person, Florence recalled spotting her from a distance at a funeral years ago and jokingly admitted she had mixed emotions.
“I really liked her when I saw her, but I also felt like I really wanted to beat her for insulting me on social media like that” she said jokingly.
Florence Obinim said time has completely changed the narrative between them, revealing that the two now enjoy a healthy relationship despite their past social media drama.
“Currently, she’s a very good friend of mine,” sh revealed.
Her revelation highlights how relationships strained by public controversies can evolve, with both women choosing to move beyond past online exchanges and build a cordial friendship.
