Kumawood actor Stephen Yaw Mawunyo, popularly known as Oteele, and his wife, Gifty Nana Afriyie, have taken a dramatic step towards reconciliation after weeks of marital tension triggered by an alleged leaked intimate video involving the actor and another woman identified online as Azigi.

During an emotional TikTok Live session, Gifty Nana Afriyie told Oteele that despite the pain and difficulties she had endured, she still loved him and had forgiven him.

“Honey, please, can you hear me? Have you suffered enough? I love you. I will come home this week,” she told the actor.

Oteele, visibly emotional during the conversation, responded by acknowledging the hardship he had experienced and expressing his love and gratitude to his wife.

“My face even shows that I have suffered. I also love you. Thank you, and God bless you. So, where are you currently, please? I want to come and pick you up so that you don’t change your mind after the live session,” he said.

The emotional exchange marks a major change in the couple’s relationship after the controversy surrounding the alleged private video erupted in August 2026. Gifty had earlier publicly denied being the woman featured in the footage and spoke about the emotional toll the controversy had taken on her.

Oteele also publicly apologised over the controversy, directing his apology to his wife, the woman in the video, her family, God and Ghanaians.

The latest TikTok Live, however, appears to have opened a new chapter for the couple, with Gifty indicating that she is ready to return home and rebuild their relationship.

Their reconciliation comes after a period of intense public scrutiny, including earlier allegations by Gifty concerning infidelity during their marriage. The couple’s latest exchange has therefore sparked fresh reactions from social media users, many of whom are closely following whether the emotional reunion will lead to a lasting resolution.

For now, Gifty Nana Afriyie’s declaration that she has forgiven Oteele and plans to return home has significantly changed the direction of a marital crisis that had dominated social media discussions for weeks.
