Former Fomena Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Akwasi Nti, has revealed that he sold his two houses to help Andrew Amoako Asiamah become Member of Parliament for the Adansi North constituency.
His comment comes in the wake of some aggrieved members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fomena constituency decision to earlier this week, replace the party’s posters in its office with those of former President John Dramani Mahama.
The dramatic move by the NPP members was to protest against what they referred to as attempts by the party to impose the 2nd Deputy Speaker, Andrews Asiamah on them.
According to them, they cannot fathom the rationale behind the exemption of the constituency in the party’s polling station executive election.
However, Kwasi Nti despite relinquishing his position in the constituency, swiftly intervened to ensure the party’s office is restored to its normal state with NPP colours. A move many party faithfuls have applauded.
“The Fomena NPP Party’s office land is my personal property,“ He said on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel.
“I used my own money to furnish the office with furniture and other office needs. I remain a strong member of the New Patriotic Party so that is why I decided to intervene to restore calm in the Constituency. I have worked so hard for Fomena and won’t sit there for the youths to create any chaos in the Constituency”
Commenting further, Kwasi Nti slammed NPP Ashanti regional chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako known popularly as Chairman Wontumi for not showcasing good leadership in the region. He believes Antwi Bosiako’s incompetency has hugely contributed to the unfortunate happenings in Fomena.
