I really like Black Sherif – Cecilia Marfo opens up
Ghanaian gospel minister Cecilia Marfo has revealed that one secular artiste whose voice consistently moves her is Black Sherif.
According to her, his music — especially a particular song she feels spiritually connected to — carries a depth and power she rarely encounters outside the gospel genre.
Speaking in an interview on Bryt TV, Cecilia Marfo addressed questions about her relationship with secular musicians. She clarified that she holds no grudges against them and actually enjoys the works of many mainstream acts.
She mentioned Shatta Wale and Kwabena Kwabena among the artistes she frequently listens to, but placed Black Sherif in a league of his own. She described his lyrical talent as remarkably profound, especially for someone his age.
Her strongest attachment, she said, is to Black Sherif’s “Soma Obi,” a song she feels with both heart and soul.
“I really like that guy Black Sherif, but he doesn’t know. I love his song ‘Soma Obi’ very much,” she said.
Cecilia Marfo further stated that the track affects her so deeply that she has broken into tears on several occasions, whether hearing it on the radio, at home, or during a casual scroll through TikTok.
