Former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Boss and flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kojo Bonsu has disclosed that there were a lot of opposing people on the building of Kejetia Market, phase one.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, the former KMA boss explained that he had beautiful plans of making Kumasi a strong city and at a point he had to use force to make sure some of these beautiful projects we see today were established against all odds.
He said at some point in time he had calls from former President Mahama and it was a serious issue.
“I even received calls from our Former President Mahama to slow down on all these things.”
He revealed again that he also had plans for installing CCTV cameras in Kumasi but systems would not allow him to do that.
“I wanted to install CCTV cameras for the whole of Kumasi but was not allowed …We were going to do that for the safety of our people. The vision and the plan were to help curb the situation of robbery and other social vices” he explained.
“I faced a lot of resistance for so many projects during my time as the KMA Mayor. A lot of serious resistance but I knew I had good plans for the people of Asanteman” he noted.
