“I don’t own a car” — Actress Christiana Awuni reveals

Ghanaian actress, film producer, and philanthropist Christiana Awuni has opened up about some of the struggles entertainers face despite spending years in the industry.

In an interview, the renowned actress and founder of the Christiana Awuni Foundation revealed that she currently does not own a car and relies on ride-hailing services like Uber to move around.

“I don’t own a car. I move around with Uber. I can’t walk,” she said.

Addressing how expensive such a lifestyle can be, Christiana Awuni explained that she has no other option. According to her, using public transport would expose her to humiliation from some members of the public, even though they may not be in a better position themselves.

“If you take tro-tro too, they will insult you. Some of them also don’t own cars, but it is easy for them to insult you. Meanwhile, they can’t do anything to help improve your life,” she explained.

When asked why she does not own a car after many years of hard work in the movie industry, the actress revealed that she once had a vehicle, but it was seized by the police around the 37 Military Hospital area after she sent someone to run an errand with it.

According to her, the authorities claimed the car had not been fully paid for and lacked some required documentation. However, she said she could not afford the remaining balance requested, so she decided to let the car go.

“They took my car. I sent someone with it because it was a manual car, so whenever I needed something, I asked someone to drive it for me. They met him around 37 and seized the car. Later, they told me there was some balance I needed to pay. I told them I couldn’t afford it,” she stated.

Despite the incident, Christiana Awuni insisted that the car was legitimately purchased.

“We bought it. It had a receipt,” she emphasized.
