Charlotte Adjetey, the mother of the late, Terrence Nii Okang Mensah Adjetey, well known as Terry Bonchaka, Charlotte Adjetey has disclosed a new twist with regards to the untimely demise of her son.
On Friday, October 29, 2003, Terry Bonchaka was said to have been involved in a gory accident on the Legon-Madina road while returning from a show he was billed to perform at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The “Pulele” hitmaker was said to have collided with a tree with his car of which he was immediately rushed to the 37 Military Hospital but unfortunately was pronounced dead.
Speaking in a recent interview, 18 years after the incident, the mother of the late musician has revealed that she has still not gotten over what she describes as the shock of her life. According to her, she was asleep when she received a call from someone telling her about her son’s demise.
“I went to the hospital to meet the person he was with before his death, and he informed me, but I didn’t understand how it happened because my son was on the passenger’s side, but he couldn’t say anything”, she said.
She quickly rushed to the hospital but she was unable to see her son’s body and was only handed his clothes and shoes. She stated that she tried everything possible to see her son’s body but they denied her entry.
“I wanted to go inside, but they wouldn’t let me.” It was a very difficult time for me, but they never let me go,” she cried.
Terry Bonchaka was one of the most energetic entertainers in Ghana. He also happens to be the grandson of Parliament speaker Peter Alan Adjetey and graduate from Adisadel College.
