In late May of this year, Reggae artist Ras Kuuku publicly voiced his disappointment in Kofi Kinaata for omitting his verse from the song “Effiekuma Love.”
Ras Kuuku revealed that he had initially contributed a verse to the track, only to have it removed by Kofi Kinaata, who then re-recorded the song without his input.
“This song ‘Effiekuma Love’ I was on. I did my verse on that song.”
“The first one he did, the voice was thick, so I gave him the lighter voice. After listening to mine, he sang it again. When the song was released, they came begging, saying they didn’t come for the data and all.” Ras Kuuku stated in an interview.
Responding to those claims made by Ras Kuuku on Oyerepa Entertainment Review on Friday, June 14, hosted by MFK, the Sensational Ghanaian artist, Kofi Kinaata stated that, he did not receive Ras Kuukus’s verse hence the release of the “Effiekuma Love” song.
“I called Ras Kuuku for a feature because he’s my friend. So my manager gave him the song in 2019. But I didn’t hear from him. I gave him the digital recording of the song but we later produced it on live band.
I don’t know if he submitted his verse to my manager after the recordings. But personally, I didn’t receive his verse or listen to it. I was expecting him to call me after he finished his verse but he never reached out to me. So I went on to shoot my music video and released the song.” Kinaata told MFK.
Kinaata further stated that Ras Kuuku should have called him to settle the matter after the release of the song but he rather chose to speak on radio stations than to resolve the matter at home.
“So I think after I dropped the track, if he had any worries, he should have called me or my manager but he never did. He decided to run to FM stations instead of settling the matter at home.“ Kinaata disclosed.
