A Ghanaian woman, known only as Mama, has shared a deeply emotional and painful account of her life journey, detailing the extreme sacrifices she made in the name of love, which ultimately ended in betrayal and heartbreak.

Speaking on Oyerepa Afutuo with Auntie Naa on Thursday, June 12,2025, Mama opened up about her past involving prostitution and drug trafficking, all in an effort to support her partner.

According to Mama, her story began in the 1980s when she traveled to Nigeria with a group of friends in search of greener pastures. There, she engaged in sex work (Ashawo business) and quickly earned substantial money. Upon returning to Ghana, she met a man named Joe in 1992, who later became her boyfriend and the center of her sacrifices.

“I used to give him a lot of money because I was doing Ashawo business in Nigeria,” she revealed. “I loved him, and I did everything to make him happy.”

Later, Mama and her friends returned to Nigeria and secured an opportunity to travel to Germany, settling in Berlin. There, they continued their prostitution business, this time targeting white men who paid handsomely for their services.

“We were making good money. I preferred white men because they used to pay huge amounts after being with you,” she said.

After some time in Berlin, Mama and her friends moved to Paris, France, where they continued with the sex work. Throughout this period, she remained committed to her boyfriend Joe, sending him money regularly to care for his mother, sisters, and brothers.

“I was the one catering for Joe. I did everything for his family because I truly loved him,” she recounted.

Mama disclosed that they eventually had two daughters together. In a desperate attempt to earn more money, she transitioned into the cocaine business, supplying drugs to Arab clients and Nigerian sex workers in Europe.

However, her risky lifestyle soon spiraled out of control. She became addicted to the very drugs she sold and later got involved in robbery to sustain her habits.

“I ended up a drug addict and a thief,” she said tears.

In a tragic twist, Mama revealed that the man for whom she sacrificed so much eventually abandoned her, taking everything she had worked for.

“To sum it up, my husband left me and took away all that I toiled for. Now, I own nothing,” she said.
