Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur has issued a clarification following his earlier social media post, shedding more light on his allegations against Glen Boateng, founder and CEO of Ground Up Chale. This record label previously signed him.
According to the rapper, he fully honoured his contractual obligations. He even continued working with the label in good faith after the contract expired, particularly on his Son Of Jacob project.
“I lived up to the contract. I did the time. Even after it was over, I decided to work with you on Son of Jacob in good faith. I carried Ground Up Chale on my back,” he stated, addressing the ongoing dispute over ownership of his music and image rights.
Kwesi Arthur revealed that he is currently being asked to pay $150,000 for using images of himself in a recent project. He further alleged that Ground Up Chale is claiming ownership of his image, music, and all aspects of his brand from 2016 to date.
The rapper also spoke about financial difficulties he faced during his time with the label, claiming he has not earned any income from his music throughout the years he worked with them.
“I have not made a dime from any of my music within the period I worked with them for years now,” he wrote.
He went on to accuse Glen Boateng and his team of intimidation and manipulation, saying the situation has negatively affected his mental health and overall well-being.
“If anything happens to me, Glen Boateng and all team members of Ground Up Chale are responsible and should be held accountable,” Kwesi Arthur concluded.
