Joseph Boakye Danquah, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Subin constituency in the Ashanti region, has today declared his intention to contest as an independent presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to the former NPP Chairman, the Minnesota Chapter in the USA, he believes that there are so many things in the party that are totally out of line per the party’s constitution, which has always condoned all these illegalities.
Speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show Monday morning with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, JB Danquah explained that he has endured so much frustration from his own party leadership and the Constituency Election Committee of the party that he can no longer stand it.
“I am no longer contesting on the ticket of the NPP in 2024 as a parliamentary candidate… I am going as an independent candidate in the Subin constituency,” he stated.
He disclosed that he will not sit again in a party that cannot uphold its democracy per the rules and principles governing the party.
“We have modalities and guidelines for electing our parliamentary candidates, but is that what you see at Subin constituency, where the party does whatever they want for their preferred candidates, but we have a constitution that governs the party?” he added.
He reiterated that as it stands now, he can no longer be part of all these things happening in the party, and he is contesting as an independent parliamentary candidate in the 2024 elections.
