Former Ghana Black Star player, Nii Odartey Lamptey, recently shared a profound moment of self-reflection that prevented him from making a life-altering decision. This moment occurred when he discovered the true paternity of his children with his ex-wife.
In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Odartey Lamptey revealed that upon learning the results of the DNA tests, his initial reaction was to react impulsively by reaching for a gun. However, he paused and took a moment to think rationally.
In that moment of clarity, Odartey Lamptey realized that resorting to violence was not the solution. He understood that using the gun would only lead to further negative consequences in his life. This realization marked a turning point in how he handled the crisis.
“When the issue happened, I wanted to use my gun. It was in my Tundra, but I decided I would not do anything to jeopardize my life, so I did not use it. I was broken, but I was very patient about it, and that has led me to where I am today. I believe it was God who spoke to me, and so I decided not to use my gun. It used to be in my Tundra, but I decided not to touch the gun again,” he said.
“I strongly believe that as a man, you need to marry your job. When the issue happened to me, when I come here, I listen to some of the recordings I did on my phone. If you don’t get close to your job, you’ll lose your job and also lose the other things that you focused on,” he said.
Providing further details on how he handled the whole situation, Odartey Lamptey said that he dedicated himself to his work, which allowed him to get his mind off the saga.
