Former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Akuapim North MP, Sammi Awuku, has strongly defended the character of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing the former Vice President as genuinely humble and a natural unifier.
Addressing party supporters, Awuku dismissed claims that Dr Bawumia’s calm and approachable nature is simply political packaging. He argued that, unlike some other flagbearer aspirants, Bawumia does not adopt a different persona when campaigning for votes.
“Dr. Bawumia is not fake. His humility is natural,” Awuku stressed. “Some people only laugh when they are contesting for positions, pretentious laughs, but Bawumia is never like that.”
The MP said Dr. Bawumia’s authenticity is what endears him to the grassroots of the party, adding that his personality has remained consistent throughout his political journey.
“With Bawumia, what you see is what you get. He loves people, and he unites people,” Awuku stated.
He further urged party delegates to back a leader who embodies sincerity and unity, emphasising that genuine humility, not performance, is what the NPP needs as it prepares for future elections.
