Ghanaian rapper, Flowking Stone has averred that Ghanaian musicians need to maintain the highlife genre as our identity because it’s our culture and it has been fused in our blood.
According to the former member of the Bradex music duo, the Kumerican drill musician has been fused with Highlife music, hence the fact that the new crop of musicians have changed their style of music, the highlife genre can still be found in their songs.
The rapper also indicated that “Money” composed by Kweku Flick which brought him to the limelight has highlife tunes and rhythms within it but can only be noticed when the instrumentals are taken off the song.
Flowking Stone went on to say that the Highlife tunes have been the identity of Ghanaians in the music world and despite digitalization, Ghanaians will always jam to the old tunes whenever they hear them because “it is our blood”.
He stated that it is high time Ghanaians began to cherish and uphold the Highlife genre because it portrays our culture to the outside world.
