Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds on Sunday, May 17, caused a large tree to collapse onto a section of the Achimota–West Legon road, temporarily disrupting traffic flow and creating difficulties for motorists.

The incident occurred after hours of rain swept through parts of Accra, affecting movement across sections of the capital and leaving some roads in areas such as Dansoman partially flooded.

The fallen tree blocked a significant portion of the busy roadway, resulting in traffic congestion and delays for commuters travelling between Achimota, West Legon, and nearby communities.

No casualties or major injuries were reported at the scene, although some motorists and residents expressed concern over the potential danger posed by the incident.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) later arrived at the area to begin clearing operations and restore normal traffic movement.

The emergency response team worked to remove branches and debris from the road while ensuring the safety of drivers and pedestrians using the affected stretch.
