The Ministry of Health has condemned the recent assault on health workers at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), warning that such incidents put both patients and medical staff at risk.
In a statement signed by Deputy Director and Spokesperson Tony Goodman, the Ministry described the attack, which took place at the hospital’s emergency department, as a serious development that undermines the delivery of critical healthcare services.
To address the situation, the Ministry announced immediate measures, including the deployment of additional security at the hospital and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident, particularly concerns over delays in care.
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has since visited the facility to gather firsthand information and assured medical staff of government’s full support and protection.
The Ministry further appealed to the public to exercise patience and show respect towards health workers to enable them to provide timely and effective care.
