“He still drives a 2005 G-Wagon” – Davido reveals Dangote’s modest lifestyle

Afrobeats star David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared a rare insight into the personal habits of Nigerian billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, revealing that the billionaire’s lifestyle is far more reserved than many people expect.

Speaking during an appearance on the US-based ‘Earn Your Leisure’ podcast, Davido disclosed that Dangote has consistently advised him to be disciplined with his finances whenever they meet.

According to the singer, who has family connections to the Dangote business empire, the billionaire’s message has remained the same throughout the years.

“Anytime I see Uncle Aliko, he always tells me, ‘David, save your money, save your money.’ He has been telling me the same thing since I was a baby,” Davido said.

The musician also expressed surprise at Dangote’s approach to personal spending, noting that despite being one of Africa’s wealthiest individuals, the businessman does not appear interested in constantly upgrading his possessions or showcasing his riches.

“The crazy thing to me is just how normal they live their lives. I don’t think Dangote has bought a new car in 20 years. He drives a 2005 G-Wagon,” he revealed.

Davido’s comments have triggered conversations about wealth, financial discipline and the difference between having money and displaying it.

Aliko Dangote, founder and president of the Dangote Group, remains one of Africa’s most influential businessmen, with investments spanning industries including cement, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure.
