“He knows nothing about the industry” — Shatta Wale attacks Okraku-Mantey
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, has once again launched a strong attack on former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mark Okraku-Mantey.
Speaking during an interview on The Bonah Show, portions of which have circulated widely on TikTok, the outspoken musician questioned Mark Okraku-Mantey’s understanding of Ghana’s entertainment industry and criticised his performance while serving in government.
According to Shatta Wale, the former deputy minister failed to deliver on expectations within the creative arts sector despite his long-standing background in entertainment.
“Mark Okraku-Mantey is senseless. Can you see that he didn’t do anything while in office? He didn’t even benefit from his own position,” he said.
The dancehall artiste further alleged that despite Okraku-Mantey’s years of experience as a music executive and entertainment pundit, he has not shown enough intelligence regarding the realities of the creative arts business.
“As far as the industry is concerned, he is the only person who is not intelligent,” Shatta Wale added.
The comments have since sparked reactions on social media, with fans and industry players debating whether Shatta Wale’s criticism was justified or unnecessarily harsh.
Mark Okraku-Mantey, a former entertainment journalist and music executive, served as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts under the previous administration and was often seen as one of the industry figures expected to bridge the gap between government and creatives.
