A marital dispute involving allegations of infidelity, neglect, and lack of intimacy has sparked public debate after a Kumasi couple shared their conflicting accounts on Oyerepa Afutuo, a relationship and family programme hosted by Auntie Naa.
The husband, Isaac Mpienim, told the show on Tuesday that he discovered his wife, Diana Boakye, was cheating on him after he provided her with capital to start a business at Suame Magazine.
According to him, the revelation came as a shock, especially given that they have three children together.
“My name is Isaac Mpienim. I live in Kumasi with my wife, Diana Boakye, and our three children. I don’t usually stay at home, but I later found out that my wife was cheating on me after I gave her money to start a business at Suame Magazine,” he said.
Mr. Mpienim explained that his suspicion was first raised when he found a strange phone number written on his wife’s daily savings (susu) card.
“I asked my wife whose contact it was, but she denied that it belonged to another man. We argued over it, and I tore the card,” he stated.
Isaac Mpienim added that a few weeks later, he found the same phone number hidden in the middle of one of their children’s exercise books.
“I called the number and gave the man a strong warning to stay away from my wife, but he refused. But when my wife later moved into my new building, the man even went there to sleep with her.”
“She was cooking for him as well,” Isaac alleged.
However, responding to the allegations, Diana Boakye admitted to seeking affection elsewhere but blamed her actions on prolonged neglect and denial of intimacy by her husband.
“For the past eight years, my husband has refused to have sex with me. He never stays at home and is always with his girlfriend,” she claimed.
Diana further alleged that her husband had openly distanced himself from the marriage.
“He told me point blank that I was no longer his wife. So I also decided to find someone who would love me,” she said.
She also accused her husband of being involved with multiple women over the years.
“I can mention at least ten women my husband has had sexual relationships with. He has slept with about ten women back in our hometown,” Diana alleged.
