The General Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers Union (GTPCWU) is demanding a thorough investigation into the activities of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) board, alleging deliberate intentions to engage in non-transparent transactions with affiliates of the previous government.
The union proposes an independent review committee to scrutinize various activities, including:
– The attempted joint partnership with Decimal Capital Victor
– The incorporation of TOR Asset Management Limited
– The incorporation of Thermal Energy and Processing Limited
– The removal and resignation of general managers
– The promotion of workers involved in the incorporation of the TOR Workers’ Charity Trust
At a press briefing, Bernard Owusu national Chairman of GTPCWU expressed concerns over potential risk exploitation and misappropriation in the petroleum sector, particularly with private participation.
To address these concerns, the group is prepared to submit relevant documentation to the Office of the President, highlighting key issues and requests to facilitate a thorough inquiry.
GTPCWU has also offered to assist the current administration in resetting the sector’s activities to ensure transparency and good governance. The group believes that such inquiries will provide valuable insights, ultimately fostering public trust in the government’s commitment to accountability.
The group thanked the President for his attention to this critical matter, urging prompt action to address the concerns raised.
