The Ghana Forestry Commission has shown appreciation to Chrisantus Nifaasoyir for his massive contribution to the Green Ghana Project.
The Nkawie Forest Division in the Ashanti Region headed by Nifaasoyir was tasked to plant 550,000 seedlings however, the division planted over one million trees.
For this reason, the Ashanti Regional Forestry Commission headed by Augustine Kofi Gyedu at a short ceremony presented a 42-inch Samsung TV set to honour Chrisantus Nifaasoyir, the Nkawie Forestry Division Manager for his tremendous contribution to the Green Ghana Project.
Speaking to Oyerepa TV at the ceremony, the Ashanti Regional Forestry Commission Manager, Augustine Kofi Gyedu eulogised Nifaasoyir for his dedication to the success of the Green Ghana Project in the Nkawie Forest District.
“One district stood tall, he alone distributed and planted over one million seedlings. We’re here today to congratulate and reward him to serve as a motivation to others… Next year whoever will stand tall will also be rewarded,” he stated.
Agustine Gyedu revealed that the Ashanti region exceeded its target of 4 million.
He said, with the support of his able district managers, the region distributed and cultivated 6,450,000 seedlings under the Green Ghana Project.
“I’m glad to tell you that, with the support of my able leaders, we’re here today to congratulate them on the good work they did. At the end of the day, Ashanti Region was able to distribute and plant 6,450,000 seedlings of different species. Meaning, we exceeded our target of 4m seedlings with the support of our district managers.” Augustine Gyedu declared.
The award-winning manager, Nifaasoyir, expressed gratitude to the Ashanti Regional Forestry Commission for the honour bestowed upon him.
He also praised his subordinates at Nkwawie Forest District and his colleague district managers for their hard work and massive backing.
“I didn’t do it alone, my other colleagues at Nkawie supported me. I thank my colleagues at Nkawie Forest District. My colleague district managers also supported me.” Nifaasoyir expressed.
He unveiled that his outfit was supposed to plant 550,000 seedlings but with support from his people they distributed and cultivated 1,33,000 seedlings.
“Our target was 550,000 seedlings but at the end of the tree planting exercise we were able to plant 1,33,000 seedlings.”
He however entreated all stakeholders to make it a responsibility to plant trees to replace the country’s depleted forest reserves.
