Government through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has increased cash Grants to LEAP beneficiaries from GHC 128 to GHC 256.
The Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty(LEAP) is government commitment to poverty alleviation and improving the quality of life among the poor and vulnerable people in society.
At a press briefing, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dakoa Newman alluded that government has already released One Hundred and Fifty-One Thousand Seventy Two Ghana Cedis(GH103,251,072.01)
to pay the three hundred and twenty-four thousand and seventy-three(324,073) beneficiaries households.
According to her,, the boost in funding is expected to provide much needed relief and support for thousands of families across the country, enabling them meet their basic needs more effectively as well as invest in their future wellbeing.
The Okaikwei South Lawmaker opined that One-member Household will take a monthly payment of GHC 256.00 instead of GHC 128 which was been paid since 2015.
She seized the opportunity to thanked the world Bank, World Food Programme and Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office for support towards the LEAP Programme.
