Traditional leaders (Nananom) of Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District have called on their Member of Parliament, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, to be more proactive and vocal in Parliament in advocating for development projects for the constituency.
According to the chiefs, despite the significant revenue generated within the Gomoa East District, the area continues to lag behind in terms of infrastructure and essential social amenities.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Ansah, Nana Kow Osuapem, Ebusuapanyin of Gomoa Nyanyano, expressed concern over the lack of proper schools, hospitals, potable water, and roads in the community. He noted that Gomoa Nyanyano, one of the largest and most economically active communities in the district, has not seen development that reflects its contribution to the local economy.
“The MP must be active in Parliament and push for development. Our roads are bad, access to clean water is poor, and we lack a decent hospital. The situation is not acceptable, considering the revenue this area generates for the district assembly,” he said.
Nana Kow Osuapem also appealed to the Minister of Education to visit Gomoa East and assess the conditions of schools in the area. He noted that many of the basic schools are in dire need of infrastructure, which is hampering effective teaching and learning.
He emphasized that the time for promises is over and called for action to ensure equitable development in the district.
