Ghanaian gospel musician, Ohemaa Mercy, has opened up about the unexpected reason behind her divorce.
In a candid interview on TV3, she revealed that divine guidance from the Holy Spirit led her to end her marriage, allowing her to dedicate herself to her ministry fully.
Ohemaa Mercy shared that her decision to seek a divorce was not taken lightly, but she felt an unmistakable prompting from the Holy Spirit to prioritize her spiritual calling.
She noted that it was only after her divorce that she experienced a deeper sense of God’s presence in her life, allowing her to focus on her music and ministry with renewed purpose and passion.
“I remember when I was going through divorce. During COVID-19, I depended solely on God for direction, I had a strong covenant with him. I will go to the mountains to pray for three months and I really wanted to hear what the Lord will say about what is going on around me. So when I heard it clearly, I took that bold step. I had the confirmation from God, If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have done it.
“I give God the glory because I am divorced but this is the time I have seen the hand of God so strong on my life, even more than when I was married,” she established.
Ohemaa Mercy also explained that her husband agreed to the decision and also to allow her fully experience God’s guidance and blessing in her life.
“My partner understood that we had to do things that way. I told him we needed a break and he understood. We agreed to support each other and take care of the kids. If I’m facing challenges, we discuss them. My priority is to honour God, and that’s why we decided on this path,” she added.
Ohemaa Mercy also mentioned that she and her ex-husband still maintain a cordial relationship, adding, “We talk every day and continue to support each other.”
