“Give me that award” — LilWin rejects Clemento Suarez’s Ghana Movie Awards win
Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known in showbiz as LilWin, has ignited controversy after making bold remarks about the 2026 Ghana Movie Awards, particularly the Favourite Actor category.
Speaking in a recent interview, LilWin expressed strong confidence in his standing in the film industry, insisting that he remains one of the most dominant actors in Ghanaian cinema. He stated that awards no longer hold much value to him personally, adding that he could even pass future honours to upcoming actors as a way of encouraging new talent.
According to him, his achievements over the years make him a deserving winner in any category he is nominated for.
“Next year, I will win the award again, but I will give it to someone else. I will hand it over to the upcoming actors to motivate them because I have already won many awards, and this one is the least of them. I knew that even while sleeping, I would still win. I have achieved so much through my work, and I am even tired of local awards. When I won Best Actor, everyone knew I deserved it,” he said.
However, LilWin questioned the decision to award the Favourite Actor prize to comedian and actor Clement Ashiteye, popularly known as Clemento Suarez. While he praised Clemento Suarez’s strength in comedy, he argued that the actor did not deserve to win in the movie acting category.
He further suggested that the award should have gone to either himself or fellow actor Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, popularly known as Dr Likee or Ras Nene.
“The Favourite Actor award went to someone who did not deserve it. Clemento Suarez is one of the best in comedy. When it comes to stage comedy, he is my favourite because he is very good. But in movies, I do not agree that he is the favourite actor. He should package the award and send it to me because it was not meant for him,” LilWin stated.
He added that even if he was not selected, the honour should have gone to Dr Likee instead, arguing that the actor deserved recognition for his impact on the industry.
“Even if they did not want to give it to me, they should have given it to Dr Likee. He also deserved that category. They should rather send the award to him so he can be motivated to do more for Ghana,” he added.
The comments have since sparked mixed reactions within the entertainment industry and on social media, with fans divided over his criticism of the awards outcome and his claims of superiority in the category.
