Retired Supreme Court Judge Justice William Anaam Atuguba has called on government to increase support for allied health training institutions, stressing that allied health services are vital to Ghana’s healthcare delivery.

Speaking to the press during the 5th congregation of Klintaps University College of Health and Allied Sciences in Accra, Justice Atuguba said government must give allied health services sufficient budgetary attention.

“You can visit a health facility without seeing a doctor because of the diagnosis provided by allied health professionals,” he noted.

He emphasized that allied health workers form the backbone of many clinical processes, from laboratory diagnosis to physiotherapy and medical imaging, yet their training institutions remain underfunded.

Justice Atuguba also entreated graduates not to allow money or societal pressures to compromise their professional ethics.

“Do not allow today’s societal challenges, especially the pursuit of money, to become a hindrance to your jobs as allied health professionals,” he said.
