Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has cautioned that Ghanaians will face economic and social hardship if former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not elected President in the 2028 elections.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Ashanti Region on September 10, Mr. Hammond expressed strong confidence in his leadership, describing him as competent and capable of steering the country’s affairs.
He dismissed criticisms against Dr. Bawumia, particularly those rooted in religion, insisting that competence should guide the nation’s choice of leader.
“It is absolute madness to suggest that Bawumia cannot be President because he is a Muslim. Have you seen his capabilities and hard work? We will suffer if Bawumia is not elected as President,” he stressed.
Mr. Hammond urged Ghanaians to look beyond religious considerations and focus instead on proven ability and commitment when electing the country’s next leader.
