Professor Charles Ofori Marfo, the former President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), has urged Ghanaian voters to consider the issue of erratic power outages, known as Dumsor when casting their ballots in the upcoming elections.
Professor Marfo pointed out that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) criticized the John Mahama government for Dumsor before the 2016 elections, but the problem persists under the current leadership of Akufo-Addo.
He emphasized that Mahama, successfully addressed the issue of Dumsor during their tenure, and it is concerning that the problem has resurfaced.
In light of this, Professor Marfo suggested that if Ghanaians were to base their vote solely on any issue it should be Dumsor and no other factors.
“If Ghanaians were to vote against NPP under one condition, it should be Dumsor.
It’s not corruption because both the NPP and NDC have even stopped talking about corruption, it’s not a variable to consider anyomore. So if it should be one thing, it should be an energy crisis.” He stated on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, with Kwesi Parker Wilson.
