As Ghana prepares for its upcoming elections, prominent stakeholders, including politicians, traditional authorities, clergy, and youth, have been called upon to prioritize national peace over personal interests.
Elder Enoch Ofori Junior, Senior Pastor of 7th Day Pentecostal Assembly, Feyiase, Kumasi has emphasized the importance of collective effort in maintaining peace.
In an exclusive interview with Oyerepa News, he stressed that peace requires active work, not just prayer.
“No country can develop amidst conflict and disturbances,” Elder Ofori Junior noted. “Ghanaians must actively work towards ensuring national peace, setting aside selfish interests.”
He hinted that, though God can anoint someone to lead a nation, it cannot be done without voting processes.
To ensure electoral peace, Elder Ofori Junior urged Traditional authorities to leverage their influence for conflict resolution as the clergy to promote peace and tolerance among their followers.
He however advises the Youth to become agents of change through community engagement, as Politicians prioritize national stability over personal interests.
The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) also stresses the importance of addressing electoral violence, recommending urgent action from institutions, the Ghana Police Service, the Attorney General’s Department, and the Judicial Service.
