Ghanaian IT prodigy and philanthropist, Salifu Abubakari, has brought international recognition to Ghana by being nominated for the prestigious 2024 Waislitz Global Citizens Awards in New York, USA.
“I have been nominated for the Waislitz Global Citizens Awards in New York, USA which is scheduled to be held in September this year. The award scheme aims at helping youths around the world who are making an impact in their various communities”, Mr Salifu Abubakari.
The Waislitz Global Citizen Awards, presented annually by the Waislitz Foundation and Global Citizen, seek to eradicate extreme poverty and generate a positive social impact through innovative projects that empower individuals to reach their full potential and create a tangible difference in the world.
This year, the award ceremony is set to take place in September in New York, United States. During a recent interview with the media, Mr. Salifu Abubakari, the Founder and CEO of B-Planet Consult, shared his journey from the streets of Kumasi, where he faced struggles and hardships, to his realization of the importance of assisting others in achieving success, leading to his nomination for the award.
Salifu Abubakari has provided training to numerous youths across the country in various fields such as electrical installation, graphics and web design, 3D epoxy flooring, and ICT. He has also been actively involved in community development initiatives, including managing the Sawaba ICT Centre in a suburb of Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region.
Revealing to the Ghanaian youth on how they can utilize and make money online, Salifu Abubakari said, “Most of us buy data, go on Tiktok to watch videos while you can make money on that same platform”.
“You can also register to be a member of so many international organizations, get the opportunity to get jobs and sometimes contract to make money for yourself. In most cases, you can earn more than those of your friends who have travelled abroad to work”, he adds.
