The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Gordin Ahianyo has announced that the police will block all roads surrounding the Baba Yara Sports Stadium this morning.
The move is part of measures to ensure, adequate security before and after the big encounter.
The Blackstars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria will come face to face in a World Cup Qualification Playoff tonight at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports at 7:30 PM.
Speaking on a Kumasi-based radio station, ASP Ahianyo said, “all roads surrounding Baba Yara Stadium will be blocked between 9 AM.”
According to him, the Ghana Police Service is going to plant all its men around the Stadium to ensure maximum security.
“We’re going to plant our men in uniform. We want to ensure there are no any incidents or whatsoever before and after the match.” The Police PRO stated.
He said, “all vehicles plying roads around the stadium will not get access.”
The PRO disclosed further that, no vehicles will be allowed to enter the stadium if you ain’t accredited.”
He said the police is ready to provide adequate security to spectators who will be coming for the big match.
“I can assure you that, security will be very tight. We’re ready to provide maximum security so the safety of all spectators is guaranteed.”
He, however, warned that people should not park their vehicles around the said areas. The police will not hesitate to tow any car parked at an unauthorized place.
“Don’t park your car in an unauthorized place. If you do so, we’ll tow your vehicle.” ASP Gordin Ahianyo cautioned.
