Ghana will host more than 500 delegates from West Africa and the global diaspora as Accra welcomes the 12th District 94 Toastmasters International Conference from April 29 to May 2, 2026.
The four-day leadership summit, themed “Lead With Purpose, Speak to Impact,” will open at Destiny Arena, with additional sessions held at selected venues across Accra.
Participants are expected from over 12 West African nations, including Côte d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, and host Ghana. Guests from Central Africa, Europe, and other parts of the diaspora will also attend.
Billed as a premier platform for leadership development and high-impact communication, the conference will address key global issues such as the rise of artificial intelligence, cultural transitions, and shifting geopolitical dynamics.
The programme features keynote addresses, leadership masterclasses, speech contests, panel discussions, and strategic networking sessions aimed at sharpening communication and leadership skills across the region.
District 94 Director, Distinguished Toastmaster Fatou Sakho, said the event will be more than a conference.
“Accra 2026 will not just be a conference… it will be a convergence of cultures, communication, and courage, where stories meet strategy and purpose meets impact,” she said. “Ghana is ready. District 94 is ready. And Africa is ready to host the world.”
This marks the second time Ghana has hosted the conference in seven years, following the 2018 edition. Conference Chair Dr. Suzy Aku Puplampu, DTM, described it as a “prestigious honour” and a reflection of Toastmasters’ growing impact in the region.
Programme Quality Director Ibrahim Sory Keita, DTM, said the goal is to deliver an “unforgettable Akwaaba experience” and showcase Ghana’s hospitality to the international delegates.
Pioneering Ghanaian Toastmaster Papa Arkhurst, DTM, said the conference is Africa’s moment to lead. “This is our moment to showcase three powerful forces: the Toastmasters culture of building leaders; the Akwaaba spirit and Ghanaian warmth; and a bold expression of African excellence,” he noted.
The event will culminate in the International Speech Contest and International Evaluation Speech Contest to crown the region’s finest speakers. Delegates will also take part in cultural experiences, tourism activities, and a Hall of Fame Recognition Ceremony and Gala Night celebrating leadership and public speaking excellence.
Keynote speakers and guests include Ecobank Ghana Board Chairman Chief Alhassan Andani, AB & David Africa’s Lawyer David Dorte, Fidelity Bank Ghana MD Julian Opuni, and Stanbic Bank Ghana MD Kwamina Asomaning.
According to the organizers, the Accra 2026 Toastmasters Conference is set to be one of Africa’s most significant leadership development gatherings this year.
