Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago have taken steps to deepen ties in the aviation sector with the signing of an Air Services Agreement aimed at improving air connectivity between the two countries.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between President John Dramani Mahama and Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, in New York on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

According to President Mahama, the deal is expected to open up new avenues for bilateral cooperation while strengthening links between Ghana and the Caribbean nation.

“This agreement strengthens air connectivity and creates new opportunities for cooperation between our countries,” he said in a Facebook post.

Beyond aviation, the two leaders also discussed developments surrounding the reparations agenda, as well as trade and investment.

Their discussions form part of broader efforts by African and Caribbean countries to strengthen cooperation on historical injustices and other areas of mutual interest.

The meeting took place in New York, where President Mahama is participating in diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
