Dr. Patrick Essien, President of Molex Foundation Africa, has emphasized the need for stakeholders to create more accessible channels for girls to pursue STEM and Information Technology programmes.
Speaking at the Tech Eminence Awards in Takoradi, Dr. Essien stressed that equal access to STEM education is essential for national development, as many talented girls are limited by lack of opportunity, exposure, and resources.
He urged the government, parents, and educators to invest in initiatives such as mentorship programmes, ICT laboratories, scholarships, and community outreach to encourage girls, particularly in underserved communities, to pursue STEM education.
“When girls are empowered to study STEM and IT, the nation accelerates toward innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness,” Dr. Essien said, highlighting the importance of empowering girls in STEM fields.
