The 12th anniversary of the passing of former President John Evans Atta-Mills will be commemorated on July 19, 2024, at the Cedi Conference Centre, University of Ghana.
The event, chaired by former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, will celebrate Professor Mills’ enduring legacy and values of humility, kindness, compassion, strength, and resilience.
The J.E.A Mills Memorial Heritage, established to preserve his legacy, plans to mobilize funds to develop AstroTurf hockey pitches nationwide, a nod to the late President’s passion for sports.
The heritage has also outlined a five-year strategic plan (2024-2028) featuring annual lectures, commemorative events, publications, and sports tournaments.
Mr. Alex Segbefia, Chairman of the J.E.A Mills Memorial Heritage, expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their unwavering support since the heritage’s inception.
According to him, the anniversary celebration serves as a testament to the lasting impact of President Atta-Mills’ leadership and the values he embodied.
The event aims to honor the memory of President Atta-Mills and continue his legacy of promoting sports, education, and community development. It will bring together dignitaries, sports enthusiasts, and well-wishers to celebrate the life and times of a beloved leader.
