The Ghana Education Service (GES) has been tasked with investigating a viral video showing a student physically assaulting a fellow student, following growing public concern over the incident.

Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Abas Apaak, disclosed that the Ministry of Education has taken notice of the disturbing footage, which has been widely shared across social media platforms.

According to Dr. Apaak, the video has been forwarded to the Director-General of the GES for immediate action.

“The attached viral video of a student assaulting another student has come to the attention of the Ministry. I have since forwarded it to the Director-General of the GES for action,” he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the Education Minister, Dr. Apaak stressed that acts of indiscipline and violence in schools will not be tolerated, warning that those found culpable will face sanctions.

“Indiscipline will be punished,” he emphasised.

The video captures a student repeatedly attacking another student while several onlookers watch without intervening. The victim is seen attempting to flee, but the assault continues.

The GES is expected to identify the students involved and apply appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with its regulations and code of conduct.

The incident has renewed concerns among the public about student discipline, school safety and the effectiveness of measures aimed at maintaining order and acceptable behaviour in educational institutions across the country.
