The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has emphasized that the fight against galamsey is a national issue that requires collective effort from all Ghanaians, rather than a partisan issue between the NDC and NPP.
Speaking at the launch of Patriotic Journalists Against Galamsey (PAJAG) in Accra, Dubbed (Galamsey Ends Here), the minister stressed that the country needs to reform the relevant sectors, including the Mineral Commission, to overhaul the licensing process.
Minister Kofi Buah also highlighted the importance of educating young children in schools about the dangers of galamsey, stating that it will have a long-term impact.
He further called on Ghanaians to support the Forestry Commission and security agencies in their efforts to combat galamsey operators who are destroying water bodies and forest reserves.
