The Alliance for Financial Accountability (AFAG) is urging all presidential candidates to sign a binding national pact to continue the fight against galamsey, Ghana’s devastating illegal small-scale mining issue.

“The Limitations of Current Approaches*
Military deployment and excavator burning have not yielded desired results, and the environmental cost remains staggering. The lack of community involvement and stakeholder engagement is a primary reason for this failure.”
Mr Arnold Boateng General Secretary of AFAG
adding that Ghanaians must come together to combat galamsey. By recognizing the importance of community involvement and stakeholder engagement, we can create a collective will to overcome this national challenge
He said the galamsey issue affects every Ghanaian directly or indirectly. It’s time to put aside finger-pointing and work together to find sustainable solutions that protect the environment, secure livelihoods, and ensure a prosperous future for generations to come.
