GAF arrest individual for forging documents during military recruitment

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the arrest of an individual for document forgery during the ongoing military recruitment exercise at El-Wak Stadium in Accra.

The recruitment, which resumed on Thursday, November 20, 2025, had previously been suspended on November 12 following a tragic stampede that claimed the lives of six prospective recruits. Since resuming, close to a thousand candidates have participated in the exercise.

Speaking to Citi News, Colonel Evelyn Asamoah, Director of Protocol for the Ghana Armed Forces, stated that the suspect had been apprehended by security authorities and would be dealt with according to established procedures.

Meanwhile, James Agalga, Chairman of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, who led a monitoring visit to the recruitment centre at El-Wak Stadium, expressed satisfaction with the way the exercise was being conducted.

The Armed Forces reiterated their commitment to ensuring a transparent and orderly recruitment process while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and security.
