GACL dismisses two staff over begging at Airport
Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare said the company has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards staff who harass travellers or demand money from them. She urged passengers to report any such incidents, assuring them that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken without delay.
She made the remarks during a meeting with Parliament’s Committee on Transport, where officials discussed operational challenges and measures aimed at improving passenger experience at the airports.
According to the Managing Director, two employees have recently been dismissed after investigations confirmed that they had engaged in begging at the airport.
She stressed that the company remains committed to maintaining discipline among its workforce and safeguarding the reputation of Ghana’s premier international airport.
Mrs. Opare also highlighted a number of ongoing infrastructure projects designed to enhance airport services. These include the refurbishment of Terminal 2, expansion of parking facilities and the construction of an airport hotel.
She noted that the projects form part of GACL’s broader strategy to modernise airport infrastructure and provide a better travel experience for passengers and other airport users.
