A 27-year-old man described as a spiritualist has been arrested after residents of Lamptey in the Ga South Municipality reportedly intercepted him while he was allegedly attempting to use an 11-year-old schoolgirl for ritual purposes.

The suspect, identified as C Prof, was reportedly seen accompanying the young girl into an uncompleted building in the community, raising concerns among residents.

According to eyewitness accounts, the girl later cried out for help, prompting residents to approach the building and intervene.

The residents reportedly rescued the girl and apprehended the suspect.

A subsequent search of the suspect’s belongings allegedly led to the discovery of a bag containing what residents described as human bones.

The suspect, who is said to have been residing in the uncompleted building, was reportedly assaulted by some residents before being handed over to the police.

The girl has since been rescued and is said to be safe.

Residents who witnessed the incident have spoken to the media, recounting how they became suspicious and intervened after hearing the girl’s cries.

Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the contents of the bag allegedly found in the suspect’s possession and the reason he was with the child.

The identity of the girl has not been disclosed to protect her privacy.
