G/A: Father, Stepmother Arrested for Beating 13-Year-Old Girl to Death Over Leftover Food
A man and his wife have been arrested by the Kokrobite District Police in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region for allegedly beating the man’s 13-year-old daughter to death after accusing her of eating leftover food meant for her younger sibling.
The deceased, identified as Celestine, was reportedly accused by her stepmother, Grace, of consuming the food. Upon returning from work, the father, Issah, was informed of the incident, leading to a brutal assault on the girl.
Eyewitnesses told Nana Ansah that Issah used a cane, a shovel, and even a cutlass to beat the child repeatedly. Celestine is said to have suffered severe internal bleeding. Despite her deteriorating condition, she was allegedly left unattended and later died.
Alarmed by the incident, neighbours alerted the police. The stepmother was immediately arrested, while the father fled but was later apprehended by the authorities.
An elder sister of the deceased’s biological mother, who also spoke to Nana Ansah, strongly condemned the act, revealing that the father had a history of abusing the child. She called for justice, insisting the couple must face the full rigour of the law.
The Kokrobite District Police have commenced investigations into the matter, and the couple is currently in custody assisting with inquiries.
