The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) has announced plans to stage a picket at the Ministry of Education on June 11, 2026, to demand the payment of outstanding debts owed to its members under the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 3, the association said the planned protest was prompted by the government’s failure to settle approximately GH¢50 million owed to suppliers of school uniforms, house dresses and school cloths supplied to public senior high schools.

According to NAIS, members have not received payment for goods delivered since 2023 despite repeated engagements with the relevant authorities and numerous appeals for the release of the funds.

The association indicated that the prolonged delay has placed significant financial strain on suppliers, many of whom are struggling to sustain their operations and continue providing services to schools.

“The picketing aims not only to draw the government’s attention to our plight but also to urge the immediate release of funds owed to NAIS members,” the statement said.

NAIS noted that it hopes the demonstration will underscore the urgency of the matter and compel the government to take swift action to settle the outstanding arrears.

The association further appealed to the media and other stakeholders to support efforts to highlight the issue and bring national attention to the challenges facing institutional suppliers.

The planned picketing exercise is expected to take place at the Ministry of Education on June 11, 2026, as suppliers intensify calls for the payment of their outstanding claims.
