Four out of nineteen passengers are in critical condition and receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital following a head-on collision involving two Sprinter buses on the Senya-Bonsuaku highway in the Awutu Senya West District.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, around 4:00 AM.
According to reports, one of the Sprinter buses, with registration number GR 5137-18, was travelling from Kasoa toward Senya Bereku, carrying foodstuffs and one passenger. The second bus, with registration number AC 804-14, was heading in the opposite direction from Senya Bereku to Kasoa, loaded with passengers.
An eyewitness, Mr. Kennedy Ewuah, told Nana Ansah in an interview that the driver of the bus carrying foodstuffs lost control due to poor visibility caused by cloudy weather, leading to the fatal collision.
Both drivers were reportedly trapped in their vehicles with broken legs. With the help of nearby residents, they were rescued and rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Senya Bereku District Police Commander, DSP Kingsley Asante, confirmed that nineteen people were involved in the accident. He noted that four victims are in critical condition and receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, while the rest have been transferred to Hope Christian Hospital and the Senya Polyclinic.
DSP Asante has urged drivers to exercise caution, especially during early morning hours and adverse weather conditions, to help prevent such accidents.
