The National Investigations Bureau (NIB) has questioned the former Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi, as part of its ongoing probe into the ghost names scandal.
Sources indicate that Mr. Osei Assibey appeared before the NIB on Thursday, March 20, accompanied by his lawyer, after being invited by the investigative body. He reportedly underwent several hours of interrogation regarding the fraudulent enlistment of non-existent personnel onto the NSA payroll.
It remains unclear whether he was released following the questioning.
The NIB initiated its investigations after an exposé by The Fourth Estate uncovered widespread irregularities within the scheme.
As part of the probe, two former Deputy Directors of the NSA, Gifty Oware Mensah and Kwaku Ohene Djan, were previously invited and questioned over their alleged roles in the scandal.
The ghost names scandal has heightened concerns over financial mismanagement within the scheme, leading to calls for stricter oversight and greater accountability.
Stakeholders have urged the government to take decisive action against those found culpable to restore public confidence in the scheme.
