Joseph Ade Coker, the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has sadly passed away.
According to reports from Accra-based Citi News, Mr. Coker died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Bank Hospital after a brief illness.
His death was confirmed by Edudzi Tameklo, Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the NDC’s Director of Legal Affairs. Tameklo paid tribute to Mr. Coker in a heartfelt Facebook post, praising his dedication to the party and his unwavering commitment to national and political discourse.
Affectionately known as “Chairman Coker,” he was widely respected for his candid opinions on political matters and held in high esteem by the NDC grassroots. He served as the party’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman for three consecutive terms, beginning in 2009.
In 2022, he lost his re-election bid to Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, a former Member of Parliament for Adentan, who currently holds the position.
Following news of his passing, tributes have poured in across social media from Ghanaians and members of the NDC, mourning the loss of a devoted leader and loyal party stalwart.
